Abstract
An understanding of negative symptoms has paramount importance for both clinician and investigators. Negative symptoms such as apathy, amotivation, anhedonia, avolition, blunted affect, emotional withdrawal, and impoverished speech a thinking
have
been
considered as essential features of schizophrenic illness. the anthor reviewed concepts of negative symptoms, relationship between schizophrenia and negetive symptoms, and several negative symptom rating scales.
The author hopes that a better understanding of the complex negative symptom will lead to more rational, individually tailored treatments for negative symptoms schizophrenics.
